To My Inaugural Class:

What an incredible journey this has been!   It has been a true joy to see you learn and grow into the brilliant young people you have become.  Together we imagined new possibilities and painted new landscapes.  Now, the world is your canvas.  I am confident that you will continue to create new compositions in the service of making it a better and more just place for all of its citizens.  Congratulations, seniors!

Sandy Mayol, Principal

We invite you to come walk these halls and meet our HSLAD family!

Established in 2009, The High School for Language and Diplomacy is a progressive, international studies high school located in New York City’s Union Square district. We offer our students a challenging, project-based curriculum that stimulates connections between different areas of learning.  We also require a four-year modern language course that fosters an understanding of the interrelation between language and human nature and prepares students to function as members of a global village.
A vibrant, diverse and supportive community allows students to explore their unique voices, and each individual is honored and respected. An emphasis on the importance of community and service encourages students to develop self-awareness, global perspective, personal character, resilience and an understanding of their role as citizens of the world.
